Discussion postponed on Willits changes

A Basalt Town Council discussion about proposed changes sought by the owner and developer of Willits Town Center has been postponed.

The council was tentatively scheduled to meet Tuesday with representatives of Mariner Real Estate Management Inc. for a briefing on the proposed changes to the approval. However, the regular meeting agenda is so packed that the discussion was postponed until January, according to Town Manager Mike Scanlon. No vote was expected Tuesday night.

Mariner said in an application that it is seeking changes so it can build off the momentum the project has picked up since the Whole Foods Market building was completed in August 2012.

Willits Town Center is approved for about 500,000 square feet of residential and commercial space, not including affordable housing. About half of that has been constructed.
