Disappointed in RFTA

Dear Editor:

Usually I am in full support of our wonderful, local transportation system, RFTA. Recently, however, I can say that I am more than unhappy with them. Earlier this week after seeing a movie, I walked to the bus stop directly in front of the orthopedic building. There, I awaited the arrival of my downvalley bus. It arrived directly on time, and people slowly started to file on.

Unfortunately as soon as I was to board the bus I was stopped by the driver and told that the bus was full, and that a second bus would be sent to pick up those of us who were left. I accepted this, understanding that busses fill up and understanding that a second bus was on the way. However, when that second bus wasn’t there after 10 minutes I became curious about its whereabouts.

I called RFTA, and they assured me that this second bus had just been sent out and was on its way. Again, 10 minutes passed and no busses arrived. I called again and was once again assured that this second bus was on its way. In the end I boarded the next scheduled bus a full half hour later.

I am not so much upset that the bus became full. But instead I am upset that I was lied to and told a new bus was on its way to get me where I needed to be, and that because of this I wasted a half-hour of time that I could have spent running errands or visiting with friends who live close by.
