Difficult Campground closing for toilet construction

Aspen Times staff report
Aspen, CO Colorado

ASPEN -The Aspen area’s largest campground will close earlier than scheduled this fall so crews can construct new toilets, the U.S. Forest Service announced Friday.

Difficult Campground will close at 2 p.m. Sunday. That is about one week earlier than planned. The construction will also close access to the Difficult Creek Trail for about two weeks.

The Forest Service is keeping campgrounds along Highway 82 on the way to Independence Pass open longer this fall. Weller, Lincoln Gulch and Lost Man campgrounds are all open through Sept. 27.
