Diamonds and pearls

Dear Editor:

I know that there will be tributes to mothers on Mother’s Day. I thought that I would like this poem to be presented to your readers, because I think that many mothers will share these thoughts with me.

A Mother’s Wish

Just for a fleeting moment – just for a minute or so

I’d love to have my children as they were so long ago.

Susan with her first little kitten,

Bill with his Tinkertoys.

Mauri all bright and cheery,

Jim being a good little boy.

But my children have grown and gone away

To find their place in the world.

But, they will always be my children,

My diamonds and my pearls.
