DIA sets Sept. passenger record

DENVER ” Denver International Airport is poised to set a record for passenger traffic this year.

City officials said Wednesday nearly 4 million passengers traveled through the airport in September, which set a record for the month. It marked a 5 percent increase over the 3.8 million passengers recorded in September 2006.

During the first nine months, there were about 38 million passengers which was a 4.7 percent increase over the first nine months of 2006.

The annual passenger record of 47.3 million was set in 2006.

Aviation Manager Turner West credits the competitive marketplace for the increase.
