DeVilbiss turned my life around

Dear Editor:

Thursday was a very special day in our local history. First, the good news. Vieux Farka Toure and his band put on the best show I have ever witnessed at the Belly Up. No question, just spectacular.

But we lost the good judge, J.E. DeVilbiss, my friend, the same day. We are saddened by the event because it is such a loss. The good judge saved many lives in this town through his warnings from the bench to get help or suffer the consequences. My life has been turned around by this man, and I am grateful I knew him. When I was stuck in a bad marriage, he saw hope in me and helped pull me through.

I know that this story of helping people all over Aspen could be repeated and repeated. There should be a memorial chair for him at the Wienerstube, and he will be missed all over the valley. Goodbye, J.E.
