DeVilbiss supports Richards
Dear Editor:Please allow me a few comments on the relative merits of two of the candidates for county commissioner: Rachel Richards and Jim True. I have known and worked with Rachel since I have been a member of the Aspen City Council.I have known Jim True for at least 20 years as an attorney who practiced before me while I served as a district judge.Rachel is as honest, hardworking and intelligent a public servant as I can imagine. Rachel has a good and lively mind and an encyclopedic knowledge of local affairs. Rachel has been a loyal friend and mentor to me. She listens to my positions (as well as the statements of other council member and the public) and whether she agrees or disagrees, she states her reasons. Rachel has the courage of her convictions, she analyzes issues closely before voting or speaking, she is a person of immense integrity and she has a huge giving spirit.Rachel realizes clearly that there are no quick fixes or easy answers to problems such as the entrance to Aspen. She has the stamina and patience to work and solve problems which have bedeviled this community for years, and I believe she is the right choice to continue constructive work on those issues. Finally, and perhaps most important, Rachel Richards is a leader – a leader of real substance. I consider it a rare privilege to have Rachel as a friend and colleague. I will vote for Rachel T. Richards, and I urge you to do the sameJ.E. DeVilbissAspen
