Defending Armstrong

Dear Editor:

Really, Jennifer Long, what do you think will happen when no one takes responsibility for their dogs … no more trails for dogs (“Unhappy Trails,” Aspen Times letters, June 3). Did you not see the dog mess left up on Smuggler after spring thaw? Disgusting. And even those people who tried but left their dog bags on the side of the road. Nice. Who picks that up?

John Armstrong was not asked to leave the sheriff’s office. He is a caring and compassionate person who takes pride in this community. To call him names is really not necessary, and quite frankly childlike. Maybe you should try to hold law enforcement and our rangers in a higher regard … you never know when you’ll need them.
