Deadline nears to enroll in master gardener class
October 17, 2010
CARBONDALE – The deadline is approaching for valley residents to enroll in a Colorado State University Master Gardener class that will be offered in the winter in Carbondale.
The class will be offered on 10 Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting Jan. 27 and ending March 24. All applications are due Nov. 1 at the Garfield County Extension Office.
The fee is $550, though a reduced tuition is available for participants who qualify for an option to serve volunteer time. Volunteers share what they learned through educational efforts throughout their communities. Enrollment will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Basalt horticulturist Lisa DiNardo, well known for planning and supervising the care of Basalt’s public gardens, highly recommends the class for people hoping to improve their green thumbs. She said the class hasn’t been available within the valley previously.
CSU master gardeners will share their knowledge on everything from adapting gardening experience to the dry, mountain climate to specialty topics.
