Dead camper ID’d as Texas man

MARBLE, Colo. ” A body recently found in the Crystal River, north of Marble, has been identified as that of a Texas man.
The Gunnison County Sheriff’s Department says 53-year-old Brian Gerald Smith of Austin, Texas apparently planned to camp in the area ” but died of a heart attack.
Undersheriff Rick Besecker says Smith appeared to be traveling alone.
A woman who had gone out for a walk discovered the body near an established campground, but it’s not clear exactly when.
Smith’s car, which was loaded with camping gear, was found in a parking lot near the base of McClure Pass, off Highway 133 south of Carbondale.
