Davies: Inquires to Hurd go unanswered

I have been writing and phoning U.S. Rep. Hurd’s office since January to ask for his thoughts on how he will stand up for disabled and poor children in Colorado with the impending gutting of the Department of Education and Medicaid — two programs on which families of disabled kids rely heavily. To date, he has neither responded nor made a public statement, so I am hoping a more public request may garner a response from him. Here is my most recent request:
Dear Congressman Hurd —
I have now reached out to your office via email or phone ten times, requesting that you make a public statement on your position on both the gutting of the Department of Education and the Trump administration’s plans for Medicaid. Specifically, I have asked you to comment on how these cuts will impact disabled children in Colorado. As far as I can see from your website, you have not done so. I have waited patiently for two months for some level of response, yet you have not. Therefore, I can only conclude that you have zero concern or compassion for these vulnerable children and their families. Like it or not, you represent these children and families and have an ethical obligation to at least let your voters know where you stand on this issue.
