David F. Roddan
July 1, 2011
I know very little of Dave’s younger years, having met him when we were both in our 30s. I know he has a large loving family of whom he always remembered with a story and a twinkle in his eyes.
Unmistakably, Dave loved the outdoors, which led to adventures in Alaska on the pipeline, gold mining in the foothills, leading to unimaginable construction projects in Colorado. An innate ability to see through convoluted problems in all phases of construction, Dave loved the challenges those beautiful homes presented. His pride and joy was the large glass installation machine he created. He dreamed of us going around the country with machine in tow to do projects all over the states. Even while on chemotherapy, he would get calls for jobs – one in New York!
Our 27 years of marriage was unconventional, but no love was lost because of the distance. Only an occasional day went by where we would not speak to each other to fill in the day’s happenings.
The friendships Dave developed in Colorado will live in my heart forever – Ben, Stefan, Greg, Alexandra, Tammy, Big Bob, Lyman, Danny – and he felt all the respect in the world for Korba and Briston.
We are having a gathering in the afternoon of July 30 at the Yolo County Fairgrounds in Woodland, Calif. Love and peace to all those who knew and loved a very special man.
