Word has been received of the death of David Allen Russell, age 58, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Frederick, Okla. Private Inurnment will be in the Frederick Memo­rial Cemetery under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home in Frederick, Okla.

Russell passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, in Oklahoma City, after a brief illness. David Allen Russell was born on Nov. 28, 1949, in Frederick, Okla., to Calvin T. and Pearl L. (Wilson) Russell. He attended schools in Frederick, where he graduated in 1968. He was a member of the South Deep Red Baptist Church. After attending Okla­homa State University, he moved to Aspen, where he worked in various jobs: painting, writing stories and plays, and real estate. He worked in surveying and drafting as the assistant to the county commissioner in building a hiking trail. He felt blessed to live and work in such a beautiful place.

In 1996, he returned to Frederick, to be near his mother. While in Frederick, he was inspired by the beautiful scenic landscape, which inspired him to sketch many paint­ings of the plains and landscaping. In 2006, he moved to Oklahoma City.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by two sisters: Sabra Ladd, of Lakewood, and Carmen Jones and her husband, Phil, of Washington, Ill.; nieces Kristi Ladd, Belinda Jones and Dianne Deeds; and nephew Brian Ladd.
