ASPEN ” The Dave Mason Band will take the stage at the base of Aspen Mountain for a free concert on Thursday, Dec. 28.

The 7 p.m. gig, at the bottom of the Little Nell run, is the second in the Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert Series this winter in Aspen/Snowmass.

Mason’s career spans more than 37 years and has encompassed producing, performing and songwriting, with hits like “We Just Disagree,” “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” and “So High.” His “Feeling Alright” was a hit for Joe Cocker, while Eric Clapton put Mason’s “Only You Know and I Know” on the charts.

As a founding member of the group Traffic, Mason was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, but his guitar work can be heard on everything from The Rolling Stones’ “Beggars’ Banquet” to Jimi Hendrix’s “Electric Ladyland.”

These days, he’s putting the finishing touches on a new solo album.

The Hi-Fi series features five free outdoor concerts held during key events and peak weekends throughout the season. The English Beat kicked off this year’s shows with a Thanksgiving weekend performance, in conjunction with World Cup racing on Aspen Mountain. Other concert dates are Jan. 25 in Aspen (Winter X Games weekend), and Feb. 18 and March 22 in Snowmass; acts for those shows have yet to be announced.
