Daniel R. Heim of Glenwood Springs died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at his home. Dan was born Dec. 6, 1954, to Robert L. Heim and Virginia Trierveiler in Rock Island, Ill.

He attended St. Joseph Catholic grade school and graduated from Alleman High School in 1972. He also attended Black Hawk College in Moline, Ill. Dan worked at the International Harvester Farmall Plant and the Boar’s Head restaurant among other places, while in Illinois.

He later lived in Orange County, Calif., where he also attended college. In 1986, Dan moved to Aspen where he began his career as a painter that evolved into special finishes and wood restorations. Dan loved the outdoors and the Aspen area. He had many friends in Colorado and in the Quad City area that will miss him.

He is survived by his siblings Susan Cowden of Leawood, Kan.; Ellen Heim of Moline, Ill.; David Heim and Peter Heim of Rock Island, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his par­ents.

Services will take place at 9:30 a. m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Glenwood Springs. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Red Butte Cemetery in Aspen. Memorial Ser­vices in Aspen and the Quad Cities are pending.
