DENVER – A Democratic state representative who switched her party affiliation from Democrat to independent has been replaced as speaker pro tem of the Colorado House of Representatives but will keep her seat on the Agriculture and Appropriations committees.

That’s the decision from House Speaker Terrance Carroll, D-Denver, who announced the changes on Tuesday.

Curry is being replaced as speaker pro tem by Rep. Buffie McFadyen, a Democrat from Pueblo West.

Curry quit the party, saying she doesn’t fit into either party and would rather focus on her constituents than partisan politics.
