Curing through horseback rides

Dear Editor:

I had the wonderful pleasure of volunteering for the Horseback Ride for the Cure at Sopris Mountain Ranch on Aug. 4.

It was a gorgeous day on an amazing ranch with a terrific ride and an outstanding luncheon. My sincere appreciation to Sally Sakin who did a fabulous job of organizing this event with Komen Aspen. An enormous thank-you to Celia and Cornelius Dupre for hosting a spectacular luncheon. I would also like to thank and applaud all the volunteers who put their hard work, time and efforts into making this the best Horseback Ride for the Cure that I have attended so far.

My biggest praise must go my 12-year-old ace assistant Elizabeth Looper, who raised the money herself to be able support the Cure and to ride her favorite horse, Badger (thank you, Stephanie Brown) in this event.
