BOULDER, Colo. ” The University of Colorado is considering giving free bikes to freshmen who leave their cars at home.
Space will be tight on campus this year when CU welcomes its largest incoming class ever ” 5,750 students.
Dave Newport, the director of CU’s Environmental Center, says the school would rather spend money on academic buildings than on new parking garages.
CU may also expand its fleet of 50 “Buff bikes,” which students can borrow.
Currently, 86 percent of CU students use alternative transportation like bikes or buses to get to campus.
