CU candidates make Aspen stop
September 8, 2012
ASPEN – Two candidates for the University of Colorado Board of Regents, incumbent Stephen Ludwig and Carbondale resident Jessica Garrow, will appear at a meet-and-greet at 6 p.m. Saturday at Zocalito restaurant in Aspen.
The visit is part of their Congressional District 3 tour, which began Tuesday and ends Sunday. Additionally, Ludwig is touring all 64 Colorado counties in 10 days, while Garrow is winding down the 29-county tour.
Garrow, a Democrat, is seeking the District 3 seat for the board.
“This election is about the future of higher education in Colorado,” Garrow said. “I believe it is critical for the CU regents to understand the different perspectives, needs and issues in their districts, which is why these visits are so important.”
Ludwig, who was elected in 2006, is an at-large regent for CU.
“Higher education touches every county in Colorado, regardless if it has a college campus or not. That’s why it is so important to visit every county,” Ludwig said. “I look forward to hearing from Coloradans about their ideas and concerns about higher education and how we can meet the needs of the state in new and dynamic ways.”
