Crown Mountain Recreation District hires new director

EL JEBEL – The Crown Mountain Park and Recreation District has selected a familiar face in the Roaring Fork Valley recreation field as its new executive director.

The district in El Jebel hired Chris Woods on April 6. He has seven years of experience in recreation, most recently as aquatics director for the Snowmass Recreation Center and as recreation programs specialist for the town of Snowmass Village. Before working in Snowmass Village, Woods was the recreation and skate-park coordinator in Carbondale for three years.

Woods was head coach of the Basalt High School girls soccer team for seven years. He was Colorado coach of the year in 2007.

As executive director at Crown Mountain, Woods will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing year-round recreation programs at Crown Mountain Park as well as managing all park operations. He will assist in the implementation of the Crown Mountain Park and Recreation District Master Plan, including planning and future operations for the proposed Mid Valley Recreation Center.
