Crowing about college fair

Dear Editor:As one of the admissions representatives that attended your area’s Western Slope College Fair on Sunday, Oct. 8, I write to you and your community to thank you for a job very well done. The Western Slope College Fair is unparalleled by any other. Your community opened up its arms to us as representatives and individuals and made our stay in Aspen so comfortable and unforgettable. The involvement of parents, school board members and the local organizations was unprecedented and usually unseen to us while on our extensive travels. Your obvious commitment to post-secondary education is to be commended and should be an inspiration to rural areas nationwide. The organization and the flow of the Western Slope College Fair was impressive to say the least and I know many of the kudos in that regard go to Carolyn and Betsy at the Colorado Rocky Mountain School and to Kathy Klug at your Aspen High School. It is evident that the area has local gems in these women who have dedicated their time and energy to exposing rural Colorado to the wealth of colleges and universities that exist nationwide. In sum, I would like to thank all of the aforementioned for hosting such an incredible event that will not be topped by any other fairs this year I am sure! The students that I met while at the fair were vibrant, articulate and unique and I hope that your community continues to deem this fair as important in the many years to come!Briana MarshallAdmissions counselorCollege of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine
