Law enforcement has scheduled a briefing that will take place soon. We will update the story as soon as we know more.

An apparent shooting incident near Canyon Creek has prompted closure of eastbound Interstate 70 from mile marker 105 to 109.

Traffic was being diverted onto Highway 6, but authorities closed it shortly before 6 p.m. because of congestion.

A passer-by said the incident followed a high-speed chase and the person being pursued appeared to have pulled off at the Canyon Creek exit and jumped out of his vehicle.

A photo taken by the passer-by show a man on the ground surrounded by officers. It is not believed any law enforcement personnel were injured.
