A midvalley man was arrested for sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust last week after an alleged incident that occurred in the Basalt area, according to the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.

Noe Vergara Hernandez, 36, of Basalt, was booked into the Eagle County Jail. He posted bond of $10,000 and was released, according to jail records.

A sexual assault was reported to the Sheriff’s Office on April 18. The reporting party identified the male suspect as Vergara Hernandez, the Sheriff’s Office said. He was arrested after an investigation.

The sheriff’s office wouldn’t release other information about the incident to protect the alleged victim’s identity. No information was released on the relation of the victim and suspect, if any.
