Crested Butte gets air service boost

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. ” Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport plans to offer direct flights to three more cities next ski season.
Scott Truex of the Gunnison Valley Rural Transportation Authority says direct flights have been available from Denver and Dallas in previous years. He says this year Salt Lake City, Atlanta and Chicago will be added.
The airport was served last year by American Airlines and United Airlines. Truex says now Delta Air Lines will join the mix.
Truex says the transportation authority and Crested Butte Mountain Resort are offering up to $1.4 million in guarantees to the airlines to provide the flights.
