Crashes close I-70 at Vail Pass

Aspen Times staff report
Aspen, CO Colorado

VAIL PASS, Colo. – Multiple vehicle crashes have forced the closure of Interstate 70 in both directions on Vail Pass, according to authorities.

The westbound closure begins at Copper Mountain. The eastbound lanes were closed shortly after the westbound lanes as a result of crashes, stuck vehicles and jack-knifed semi-trucks. Authorities believe it will be at least four hours before the interstate reopens.

Highway 24 has also been the site of numerous accidents, said the Colorado State Patrol.
