‘Crappy’ articles are steamrolling Glenn Rappaport

Dear Editor:

The letters to the editor for the candidates for Basalt mayor I have read in both papers would suggest that one candidate loves dogs, is a concerned resident and good listener and has a pedigree of public service over many years – Whitsitt.

The letters to the editor and articles you have chosen to print (Scott Condon) regarding Rappaport have attempted unfairly to disqualify him because he is an architect who plies his trade in the jurisdiction and that as mayor he might have to remove himself from some deliberations. Stop insulting my (our) intelligence.

Extend this logic, and almost any employed person in Basalt might have to leave a meeting or two during a term of office – so let’s only have retirees like me or federal employees run and serve: Not a healthy idea.

Mayors lead – Rappaport is a free-thinker, a leader and most of all not a carpetbagger as you have, through your crappy articles and choice of letters to publish, imply. He’s the most qualified candidate intellectually, professionally and has demonstrated over many years of service his commitment to Basalt.

Elect Rappaport.

Jim Ferrara
