GLENWOOD SPRINGS ” The case file for the man accused of murder in Monday night’s West Glenwood Springs shooting death has been sealed.

A temporary order regarding pre-trial publicity has also been put in place pending a written motion and possible hearing on the issue. Public Defenders’ Regional Office Head Tina Fang requested the gag order and the seal.

Jesus Hernandez de Jesus, 33, appeared in court Thursday morning. Ninth Judicial District Judge Denise Lynch advised him of his rights, charges against him and possible penalties.

Police said Hernandez de Jesus was arrested Tuesday night on $3 million bond by Mesa County law enforcement in Clifton on suspicion of first-degree murder and felony menacing.

Fang didn’t return a phone message asking about the seal.

Police believe Hernandez de Jesus shot his 20-year-old nephew, Ricardo Navarrete-Prudencio, four times at the Ponderosa Lodge ” allegedly killing him over his affair with his wife in Florida. Navarrete-Prudencio told his mother he feared for his life and planned to return to Mexico this week to avoid his uncle, according to police.
