Courage for being a purist

Dear Editor:Paul Andersen’s major flaw is that he is an environmental purist and expects, rather too optimistically I’m afraid, that other proselytizers will follow suit (“Friedman’s green world,” July 16).If apologies are the order of the day, then Thomas Friedman should be issuing them for his misguided support of President Bush’s Iraq folly. It looks to me as if Mr. Friedman’s newly found greenness is a convenient distraction from his role in helping to promote the disaster in Iraq – a role he has been backing away from, step by minute step, for many months. If courage is the issue, then that belongs to Mr. Andersen for sticking to his beliefs no matter what the consequences.John BosloughSnowmass Village
