Counselors, and friends

I want to express my greatest appreciation and gratitude toward two remarkable people, Geraldine Graham and Karen Angus, especially at a time when some of the school administrators are being criticized.

They are the guidance counselors at AHS, but to me, and most of the student body, they are much more than that. They are my friends that I seek and feel more than comfortable to share a laugh, a smile and even a tear or two with.

Even when overwhelmed with work, they can always make time, even if it’s for just a hug, which means more to me than they could ever know. Not only do they help clear our hearts of anguish and grief, they work hard at guiding us in our futures.

Almost every time I peek my head through their doors for a “hello,” they’re writing a college recommendation for this person, if not that person.

Both Geraldine and Karen are also full-time mothers, and I often think how patient and compassionate their children are in allowing their mothers to share their hearts with us – how lucky we are!

I thank you, Geraldine and Karen, because if not for people like the two of you, I don’t know where I would be today. (I’ve still got two years of drama coming!)
