PITKIN COUNTY – A Pitkin County coroner’s investigation has revealed that a man found in Basalt last weekend died from a self-inflicted hanging, according to a press release issued Tuesday.

The investigation revealed no foul play involving his death, the press release said.

The exact time and date of the death is undetermined.

The victim was positively identified as Alex William Hyatt, 22, of Glenwood Springs.

He had been missing since late September. His body was found hanging from a tree, by two boys who were riding their bicycles in an area just north of Fairview Cemetery in Basalt, police said.
