Conference to put focus on Continental Divide Trail issues

Trailfest 1999, a conference and celebration on the subject of the Continental Divide Trail, will take place at Keystone Resort this weekend.

Tonight’s event will be a showing of the Banff Festival of Mountain Films, featuring two hours of award-winning mountain films from around the world, at 7:30 p.m. at the Keystone Conference Center. Banff Festival of Mountain Films will be a benefit for the Continental Divide Trail, and is sponsored by Eagle Creek and Keystone Resorts.

On Saturday, conference events include a breakfast with guest speakers and a discussion of Continental Divide Trail issues, a conference featuring speakers on “Recreation and the Environment,” “Changes in America” and “Future Public Lands Management.” The day will end with an awards dinner featuring keynote speaker Royal Robbins.

On Sunday, the conference will continue with a continental breakfast and discussion of vision, strategies and priorities for the Continental Divide Trail. The closing event is a lunch with a guest speaker.

The Continental Divide Trail follows divide from Canada to Mexico, though many sections have yet to be completed.
