Community came through for Doug

Dear Editor:On behalf of the family of Paul Douglas (“Doug,” “Dougie”) Belden, we would like to express our gratitude to the many people who made his last days and hours full of love and comfort. To the hospital staff, specifically Scarlett, Sandra and Dr. Goyette. They could not have been kinder or exhibited greater compassion. Also to his doctor, Dr. Niebur, again for his very caring manner. We would also like to thank his friend, Tom Elder, manager of The Red Onion, for an absolutely emotional and spirited memorial for Doug. To his special friends, Toast, Tracy, J.D., Chris Casper, Shane and Sherri, his boss Keith and his co-workers at Bentley’s and so many others too numerous to mention. They are truly his other family and the love and kindness displayed was overwhelming. We will miss him.Doug created a huge void when at age 38 he left us. We will never forget him or the community of Aspen and the manner in which you honored him. Thank you all from the bottom of our sad hearts. The family of Doug Belden
