Colorado unemployment rate holds at 7.8 percent

DENVER – Colorado’s unemployment rate held steady at 7.8 percent in March.
The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment said Friday that the jobless rate for March was unchanged from February but down from 8.5 percent in March 2011.
The department says Colorado gained about 2,600 nonfarm payroll jobs in March, with the gains coming from the private sector. The largest gains were in leisure and hospitality, manufacturing, education and health services.
The national unemployment rate for March was 8.2 percent, down from 9 percent in February 2011.
