Colorado named 2nd most well-rested state in the country

73 percent of Coloradans clock at least 7 hours of sleep per night, according to Sleep Junkie

Nearly three-quarters of Colorado’s residents are getting their recommended seven hours of sleep per night.

Not only are Colorado residents some of the fittest in the country, they also rank among some of the most well-rested.

Sleep Junkie, a website dedicated to mattress news and reviews, analyzed more than 480,000 records from all 50 states compiled by the CDC’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System to determine the states where residents got the most — and least — sleep.

With 73 percent of Coloradans clocking at least 7 hours of sleep per night, Colorado ranks as the second most well-rested state. South Dakota claims first place by a slim margin: 74 percent of its residents get an adequate amount of sleep every night.

Even though New York is home to “The City that Never Sleeps,” it does not rank in America’s five most sleep-deprived states. According to the study, however, New York falls among “the more rest-averse states.”

Details of first-ever county visitor affidavit revealed


The affidavit will be in place indefinitely beginning Dec. 14, apply to anyone over 10 years old coming to visit Pitkin County for one night or more and will apply to second homeowners coming to town to visit. Residents of Pitkin County, Garfield County and Eagle County will not be required to fill out the affidavit.
