The fifth annual Cocktail Classic commanded quite the crowd at 39 Degrees last month. On Thursday, Sept. 28, Pearl Vodka presented the popular event in conjunction with the Aspen Chamber Resort Association, the Sky Hotel and Aspen magazine.All 19 bartenders entered in the competition were required to use Pearl Vodka in the mix-off. They chose from Pearl Black Label, Pearl Pomegranate and Pearl Coconut.

After several hours of tasting and casting votes, the winner was announced for the official Aspen cocktail for the 2006-07 season. Keri Christoffels of Bar Aspen won a $500 cash prize, dinner for two at The Capital Grille and two nights’ lodging at Hotel Teatro for the Aspenlicious. Bruno’s Aspen Espresso Martini took second place.The Aspenlicious uses Pearl Lo Coco (coconut) Vodka and other decadent liqueurs as described in the recipe below:

Two parts Pearl Lo Coco (Coconut) Vodka One-half part amaretto



One-half part coffee liqueurOne-half part rum

One-half part Irish crèmeSplash half-and-half




Dash chocolate syrupTopped with grated chocolateCoat a martini glass with the dark chocolate syrup. In a pint glass, mix liquid ingredients with ice, shake and strain into chocolate-coated glass. Garnish with grated chocolate on the surface of the cocktail and serve.
