CMC student work on display

Aspen Times Staff Report

“Currents 2000,” the fourth annual Colorado Mountain College student art exhibition, is now on display in the CMC Gallery, 831 Grand Ave., Glenwood Springs.

The exhibition continues through April 28.

“Currents 2000” is a diverse exhibition of CMC art students’ works on paper and canvas, as well as sculpture, prints, photographs, graphic design and mixed media. Student works come from the Aspen, Rifle, Roaring Fork (Carbondale, Spring Valley and Glenwood Springs), and Vail/Eagle campuses.

Curator and Visual Arts Division Director Conni Logan notes an increase in quantity and quality of this year’s entries. “The students and faculty display a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and seriousness in this year’s exhibit,” she said.

The exhibition catalog includes student and faculty comments on individual pieces and lists pricing for select works. Pricing for the student works range between $40 and $1,000. Not all exhibit pieces are for sale.

The public is invited to meet with student artists and faculty at a catered gallery reception on Friday, April 7 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The CMC Gallery is a project of CMC’s Center for Excellence in the Arts and funded by the Colorado Mountain College Foundation. The gallery is open for viewing Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and by appointment.
