Club concept helps cancer survivors

(This letter was originally addressed to Aspen Mayor Helen Klanderud and City Council members.)Dear Editor:I am writing on behalf of the Aspen Cancer Survivor Center to express our support of the Aspen Club’s efforts to develop townhomes on their property and to transform into a destination resort. Please allow me to provide you with our reasons for this support. The Aspen Club is a major contributor to the life of this community and has graciously agreed to work with the Aspen Cancer Survivor Center by providing a place to do business. Our business is dedicated to helping cancer survivors post-treatment (chemotherapy, radiation, surgery) by providing rehabilitative exercise programming, nutritional advice and support services. This is in concert with the mission of the Aspen Club to develop a destination resort and a world-class holistic health-centered spa retreat. The Aspen Club is opening its doors to cancer survivors in our valley, throughout the region and across the nation, and we feel this is truly a wonderful asset for our business development. The Aspen Club’s vision to bring a new type of visitor to Aspen is well thought-out, viable and exciting for the city, and the possibilities for the Aspen Cancer Survivor Center will flourish with their new concept.I would request that council give this application serious consideration at future meetings.Riggs J. Klika, Ph.D.Aspen
