We all loved your editorial on mimes! It made me laugh out loud!
Actually, I’m not sure if we will have much mime action here in the next few months. I’ve been providing children’s entertainment in the greater Roaring Fork Valley area (from Aspen to Vail to Rifle) for 13 years now, and currently the silence in the mime community is deafening. If there are any professional star-eyed mimes waiting in the wings to terrorize Ute City’s children, I certainly don’t know where they are. Most of the family entertainers in the Aspen mall this summer will be local performers. And we’re a pretty noisy bunch!
You can look forward to seeing entertainers who have great relationships with the local families, enjoy entertaining children with fun, professional behavior, and take great pride in supporting the Roaring Fork Valley, where we all live, work, and pay our taxes! I am absolutely delighted with the commitment by the city to get something positive going for Aspen’s downtown business owners.
Beginning June 24, local, professional performers will be providing top-notch children’s entertainment (with some new twists!), Wednesdays through Saturdays, with two shows each night. You will find many of the same entertainers that the valley’s children already know and love: Buttons the Clown, Dizzy Lizzy the Clown, Sparkles the Clown and Jammin’ Jim the Juggler. Come and play with us, everyone – get a meal to go, sit on the grass to watch magic and juggling, get your face painted, and join us for the fun!

It’s that time of year — hikers and mountain bikers must be aware that seasonal closures are taking effect on multiple trails in the area today for the winter for the benefit of wildlife.
