Close to nature? Vote Kerry
Dear Editor:Give Bush an acre of unspoiled, protected public land and he’d shoot the bears, cut down the trees, build roads, dig gas wells, pollute the air and water and call his program “Protect America’s Sacred Ground.”Give Kerry the same acre and he’d leave it untouched for the bugs, the bees, the birds and the bears, as the Wilderness Act of 1964 requires. The Sierra Club, 48 Nobel laureate scientists and many environmental organizations across the country are backing John Kerry for president. We here in the mountains who are close to nature must back him, too.Vote for John Kerry and John Edwards Nov. 2. Ann MacLeodBasalt
