Close call in Basalt wreck News News | Mar 22, 2017 An 80-year-old man was uninjured when his Toyota Highlander plunged into the Roaring Fork River west of Basalt on Two Rivers Road on Wednesday. Basalt Police Sgt. Aaron Munch said the driver appeared to experience a medical issue prior to the crash. Witnesses heading eastbound saw the driver of the westbound Toyota slumped over the wheel. Two cars swerved right to avoid a collision with the Toyota and a third vehicle swerved left, Munch said. "He went across the eastbound lane and right into the river. The man exited the vehicle on the passenger's side, which was on the riverbank.
