Clearing up confusion over youth center

Dear Editor:

With the recent discussion about the Aspen Art Museum purchasing the “former Youth Center” space, it has been brought to my attention that there is some confusion.

Aspen Youth Center is a nonprofit organization providing after school, summer and outreach programs to youth in grades 4-12. In 2003 we moved from the downtown location into our new space inside the Aspen Recreation Center. This location has allowed us to expand our programs and serve more youth.

There have been some concerns that the Aspen Youth Center might be displaced by the Aspen Art Museum. I want to assure you that this is not the case. We love our location, and anyone in the community is welcome to stop by and take a tour of our great facility.
