City of Aspen wins grant for kids health
Aspen, CO, Colorado
ASPEN – The city of Aspen announced that it has received a $1,986 grant from Colorado Trust for a program designed to improve statewide understanding of children’s health issues.
The program, It’s About Kids, is an initiative of the Children’s Campaign’s statewide grassroots advocacy network. It’s About Kids helps advance the mission of the Children’s Campaign by spreading the word about the unique needs of children in individual communities, sharing information to help shape and support legislative priorities and building relationships with local lawmakers and the media.
“Having this support from Colorado Children’s Campaign really connects what is happening at the state level for children and families to our grassroots efforts locally,” said Shirley Ritter, director of the city’s Kids First program and co-chairwoman of It’s About Kids in the Roaring Fork Valley.
The grant will fund community-awareness breakfasts on children’s health and well-being issues. It also will sponsor local advocates’ participation in a Day at the Capitol advocacy event.
