City Council shouldn’t cave in to developers

Editor’s note: The following letter was written to the Aspen City Council.

Dear Editor:

No developer should be able to unequivocally hold the Aspen City Council and the city hostage to get their way if it is not in the best interest of the future of Aspen.

It is the council’s duty and obligation to Aspen to prevent developers from tearing down historic buildings to force the council to approve their modern construction. Please take a stand on this because there is no question what’s in the best interest of the future of Aspen. Anyone who does not uphold the integrity of our historic Aspen core will never be forgiven for the permanent and irreparable damage done.

Stand up for what’s right and defeat threats by self-interested developers. The council has a moral obligation to protect the core.
