City, CORE double energy rebates

ASPEN ” Need a new refrigerator? Aspen utility customers have an extra incentive to replace old appliances with energy-efficient models ” a rebate from the city and Community Office for Resource Efficiency.

To inspire energy savings, the city and CORE have doubled the rebates for which city utility customers were already eligible when they make certain energy-efficient investments. The doubled rebates are available from June 15 to Dec. 15.

Call CORE at 963-5657 or 544-9808, or check out http://www.aspencore.org for details on the program. Only specific appliance models are eligible for the rebates, so check with CORE before making a purchase. CORE, incidentally, is partially funded by the city.

The available rebates include: $225 for eligible refrigerators, dishwashers and clothes washers; $3 per watt for installed solar photo voltaic panels, with a $9,000 maximum; 50 percent of the cost (up to $500) for a home energy audit; and 20 percent of the cost (up to $4,000 with $1,200 in matching funds) for ground-source heat pumps.
