City closes busy bike trail
Aspen, CO Colorado
ASPEN – The city of Aspen is making improvements to the Castle Creek underpass and the Bugsy/Marolt Trail, but the work means that portions of the bike path and the pedestrian underpass at Highway 82 will be closed from July 13 through September.
The Marolt Trail will be realigned to separate the trail further from the highway and to eliminate the trail user/vehicular driveway conflict adjacent to the Castle Creek highway bridge, as well as conflict at the blind corner near the Source Gas building.
The Bugsy/Marolt Trail will be modified as it passes through the Holy Cross Open Space with a new curved, elevated structure that will improve sight-lines for users and drainage problems. The trail alignment also will be modified as it passes through Bugsy Barnard Park to separate trail use from vehicles at the end of Bugsy Barnard Court.
Work will be complete in September.

Aspen’s dirty downtown alleys are enough of a blight that the city government is taking the initiative to clean them up this week.
