Aspen Times Staff Report

Yesterday, we cautioned backcountry skiers about the conditions.

Today, we’ll stay in bounds, because these spring conditions are all over the place. From slush to crust to break-through crust, skiers should be paying close attention to what they are riding in, and what’s coming next.

A report from Buttermilk said the fast-and-icy trees were treacherous. Conditions continue to change throughout the day, but mostly it’s a firm crust in the morning, sticky slush by noon and back to the weird, mashed potatoes when shadows hit in the afternoon.

Even some great riders we know are sticking to the groomed terrain.
