Dear Editor:It’s not as if Mick doesn’t have a long record in local government to look at. At least with Ireland you know what you’ll get. Massive four-lane highway projects. Huge, ugly developments like Highlands, enclaves for the rich upvalley, with urban sprawl downvalley, years in lottery hell just to have a place to live (why not a lottery for the developers?) and forced out of the county when you can’t work anymore, tax money paid for basic services spent instead for multimillion-dollar bicycle bridges for Mick to ride on, and a taxpayer-funded skier shuttle free for the ski company under the guise of building light rail.I have been before the county commissioners; Ireland with Hatfield and Farris, their eyes looking like the dead fish in the butcher’s case and about as much human empathy as dead fish. I fear Mick sees fellow humans just as objects to be manipulated.Mick and his clique have had ample opportunity to demonstrate the efficacy of their social engineering. What I see is massive profits for developers and their enablers, and endless debt, high taxes and all the problem for ordinary citizens. Is this your vision for the future?Richard GordonAspen
