Charging stations added to Aspen parking garage

Thanks to a grant from the Colorado Energy Office, four more electric vehicle charging stations were added to the Rio Grande parking garage, officials announced Tuesday.

That means there are seven charging stations in the garage, and two are ADA accessible. The charging stations are free and can get to a full charge in four to six hours; garage parking rates still apply.

“Over the past year we’ve seen steadily rising use of the city’s public charging stations and in June, the number of charging sessions jumped by over 25 percent, compared to the month before,” said Laura Armstrong, Aspen’s Climate Action and Sustainability Programs associate. “The new stations will allow us to meet increasing demand.”
