Chapin for assessor

Dear Editor:As Garfield County assessor, I would like to express my support for Mark Chapin, who is the Democrat candidate for Eagle County assessor. I have known Mark for over 10 years, due to our participation with the Tyler Technology User Group and the Colorado Assessors’ Association. In fact, Mark served as a member of the executive board of the Tyler Technology (ECS) user group, assisting in the redevelopment and improvement of assessment and appraisal software for multiple public-sector users.Mark has extensive knowledge of assessment practice and law in Colorado, with 28 years of appraisal experience in both the public and private sectors. Mark was also appointed to the managerial role of deputy assessor in both La Plata and Eagle counties, serving a total of 15 years. The job responsibilities of deputy assessor include supervision of the staff and bi-annual county-wide reappraisals, budget, tax roll and ensuring that all statutory deadlines are met.It is imperative that the assessor have the technical expertise and managerial experience to resolve valuation issues and be responsive to taxpayer concerns. This job is about experience and not politics.A vote for Mark Chapin is a vote for integrity, honesty and commitment.Shannon HurstGlenwood Springs
