Celtic Fest a hit!

Dear Editor:This years Carbondale Celtic Fest was a big hit and the best one yet. The fall weather was ideal and downtown, historic Carbondale took on a definite Celtic shine. Maybe it was the bagpipes played by Will Lamont and Jason Anderson, or perhaps the hilarious Men in Kilts contest. We also loved hearing two bands play and appreciate the music of Craig and Lorraine Curry and Don and April Paine. All of the wonderful food and drink sure helped, too.The town of Carbondale staff really knows how to put on a great community party. Be sure to thank the Town Board, especially Becky McCarthy and Jeff Jackel. Becky and her team worked tirelessly all weekend helping make this the best Celtic Fest and Oktoberfest ever. Lots of fun for everyone. We enjoyed the first Scotch & Irish Whiskey Tasting and Discussion at Steves Guitars. Thanks to John Colson, Jock Jacober and Michael Hassig for sharing their fine Celtic spirits with the audience. The poetry and verse they read was beautiful. This was the last weekend of outdoor festivals for 2007 and marks the end of the best year yet for entertainment in little, old Carbondale. Hope you got to enjoy some of it.Steve StandifordSteves GuitarsCarbondale
